Scott Pelton (aka @spelton) has been a Canadian-based venture capitalist since July 2000. It was an interesting time to start a career in technology investing and Scott can confirm that both astronauts and VCs are expensive to train.
Scott joined Round13 Capital in February 2012 after six years with GrowthWorks Capital. Round13 is raising its first fund, the Round13 Founders Fund, with the help of Canada\’s most successful technology founders. Prior to GrowthWorks, Scott was a founding partner at Scotiabank\’s e-commerce VC group, e-Scotia Acquisition, later renamed Scotiabank Private Equity Investments.
Scott spent the 1990\’s going to school (Computer Engineering and Management at Mac), working with startups (Pandesic, Roadware) and large firms (P&G, Intel, SAP) as a consultant, programmer or sysadmin. Notable investments include Fixmo (personal seed investor), BumpTop (sold to Google), Datawire (sold to First Data) and Sysomos (sold to Marketwire).
